Why in-office matters
Hospital procedures come with scheduling delays, facility trips, and time off work. For the problems that qualify, in-office treatment collapses all of that into a single visit, which matters even more out here, where “come back for the procedure” can mean another 40-mile round trip and another half-day off. Our minimally-invasive-first philosophy starts with using the smallest setting that safely does the job.
What we treat in the exam room
- Ingrown toenail procedures: numbing, removal of the offending nail border, and a permanent matrixectomy option for repeat offenders. The single most gratifying fifteen minutes in podiatry.
- Wart treatments: debridement plus prescription-strength therapies, paced for adults and kids alike.
- Injection therapy: targeted relief for plantar fasciitis, arthritic joints, and Morton’s neuroma, placed precisely where the problem lives.
- Nail and callus care: professional debridement of thick fungal nails and corns and calluses, including protective diabetic foot care where home trimming is off the table.
- Casting, splinting, and boot fitting: from fracture immobilization to protective offloading, applied on the spot after on-site X-rays confirm what we’re dealing with.
- Wound debridement and care: the working end of our wound care and limb salvage service.
- Skin and nail biopsies: because a spot that doesn’t look right deserves an answer, not a shrug.
What to expect
Most procedures follow the same friendly script: we explain everything first, numb the area (a brief sting, then nothing), do the work while you check your phone, and send you home with plain-English aftercare instructions and a direct line for questions. Most patients drive themselves home and return to work or school the same day or the next. We’ll tell you beforehand if your procedure is one of the exceptions.
And the honest counterpart: some problems genuinely belong in an operating room, and pretending otherwise serves nobody. When that’s the case, we’ll say so plainly and walk you through what surgical care would look like.
Frequently asked questions
Do in-office procedures hurt?
The numbing injection stings for a few seconds. That’s typically the whole discomfort story. The procedure itself shouldn’t hurt, and most patients are surprised how quickly it’s over.
Can I drive home afterward?
For most minor procedures, yes. If yours involves the right foot and heavier bandaging, or sedation-free limits apply, we’ll tell you when we schedule it so you can plan a ride.
How soon can I get in for something like an ingrown toenail?
Call either office. Painful, infected problems are prioritized, and many procedures can be done the same visit as your evaluation. Safford: (928) 348-3700 · Sierra Vista: (520) 515-FOOT (3668).
Will insurance cover an in-office procedure?
Medically necessary procedures are generally covered like any other medical care, and in-office settings typically keep your share lower than facility-based care. Our staff will help verify your specific benefits.
